Trend Talk Tuesdays: Rolled-Up Pants Lust
By: Dottie
In fashion, almost any trend can be turned on its head - what was once totally tacky can now be really cool.
Ever since coming across the lovely Karla and her army of double-cuffed boy pants, I’d been obsessed with finding my very own pair to wear with the legs rolled up a la Huckleberry Finn.

It is particularly ironic that I find such delight in this little twist to wearing the wholesome, almost childlike boy pants because I am mostly a dress-wearer.
Flipping through the streetstyle blogs, I realized that rolled up pants are everywhere in the northern hemisphere, but so under-explored here in Singapore.

I love it when men casually roll up their dress pants. It is unexpected and strangely charming. For men, it appears that narrow, straight-cut or slightly tapered pants works best for this scruffy-tailored look.

In contrast, women tend to roll up more voluminous and loose-fitting pants. The tapered harem pants (a controversy in itself) or top-heavy tulip pants may be suitable. To top everything off, wear the ‘fiercest’ shoes you have!

Jeans are especially hard to work with. However, with the right cut (and incredibly thin legs), one can still carry them off to great effect.
I’m really inspired by Nisa, Singaporean fashion blogger from Perisacooper, who did a wonderful job with her rolled up pants.
Rolling up your pants is a summer trend, so it is only right that it proliferate on the Little Red Dot with the eternal summer!
