One wouldn't expect a town like Johor Bahru to hold clothing stores that could easily hold its own against boutiques in big sister city KL. Hence the joyous surprise I got when Ethan took me to The Girl Next Door down South last week.

Kistchy vintage toys and paraphernalia outside boutique

Situated on a quaint street with colourful shophouses on Jalan Dhoby, The Girl Next Door is not only a boutique, but a cafe as well. Selling decent local and Thai-influenced dishes, yummy fruit yoghurt drinks and beer; food price averages at only around RM6 a dish.

Rubik's cubes play a minor part in the boutique's interior design, with one used as a door knob, and cube squares stuck all over the counter.

If funky clothing that stands out from the masses are your cup of tea, then The Girl Next Door is chock full with items that will distract you in every direction.

Braided belts, studded handbags, vintage suitcases, assymetrical dresses, rainbow-coloured shoes, quirky accessories; you may not know where to turn to first!

Dresses are priced at roughly RM65 each.

Accessories are priced at around RM10 for rings, RM30 for bangles and RM45 for necklaces.

yeah JB is a big city next to KL and Penang! Muar or Kluang can be called town ha ha
For the price and the goods its quite expensive as they look dusty and old (not necessarily vintage) but the interior is an interesting touch. Couldn't help but noticing those funny looking toes!

yes she and her stall is always prevalent at the singapore fleas, comeon, the pieces and wares she is selling are always so outstanding! have bought numerous items from her myself. :)

:) will nvr go home with empty hands whenever I stop by, another thing is, really enjoyed the ambience and of the restaurant/ cafe, oldskool, vintage, retro.. really travelling back to the old times

aiseh. went there with my sister some weeks ago & it was closed. than we walked up a bit & came across this second-hand shop (like pasar karat in a shop). they got pineapple-sorta-disco lamps :D :D :D
