Stylo: Bill Keith, Edric Ong, Melvin Lam, Khoon Hooi, Jendela KL, Tom Abang Saufi and Melinda Looi
This post is long overdue, but better late than never, right? :) While Joyce went for the third day of Stylo Fashion Grand Prix last week, I covered the night shift which featured local designer heavyweights Bill Keith, Edric Ong, Melvin Lam, Khoon Hooi, Jendela KL, Tom Abang Saufi and Melinda Looi.
Melvin Lam
Melvin Lam's showcase featured strong texturized and architectural structures against softer colours and materials like silk and chiffon.

His work was all about touches of embellishments against already celebrated classic designs. It wasn't anything ground breaking, but I was fond of his attention to detail.
This off-white gown was my favourite piece from his collection, from the ruched bodice right down to the ruffled train. View more of Melvin's work here.
Edric Ong

Edric Ong's showcase featured traditional batik designs transcended into street wear trends and a tinge of avant garde cuts.

Edric Ong won the Designer of the Year award.

Bill Keith
Bill Keith's showcase was not only a rarity because he barely presents his collections; it also brought Ning Baizura (who sang a Malay version of Sweet Dreams) and Noreen Aziz (with a rendition of Mercy) to the catwalk.

I personally loved his collection - each piece was traditionally Malaysian, yet fashion forward. The featured looks were inventive, but at the same time, very wearable.

Khoon Hooi

Khoon Hooi's showcase was definitely my favourite by far. His looks were basic, but each paid close attention to current trends in terms of colour, embellishments, cut and material.

Amber Chia at his showcase! Guess she's back from her New York stint!

I loved his embellished shoes (which are from Vincci's Spring/Summer 09 collection).

Tom Abang Saufi

Tom Abang Saufi melded rock and her Sarawak roots together in her entire showcase. Models clearly has a lot of fun in this one, finishing each walk with a little jive.

And hey, it wasn't all about the kaftan! But as per usual, Tom Abang Saufi's collection lacked zippers and buttons. :)

Jendela KL

Jendela KL's showcase came in two parts - the casual, and the sophisticated. The casual comprised 12 day looks in the same patterns, while the sophisticated went for night looks for the modern woman.

Jendela KL was the winner of the Fashion Innovator of the Year award.

Melinda Looi

Melinda Looi was the closing show for the night. Her looks failed to disappoint, creatively intertwining hardy leather with chiffon in subdued, but bold hues. All her models looked like forest nymphs.
