GH Mumm F1 Celebration Party: Chloe and Coach
Last week, I went for two fashion shows held as part of the G.H. Mumm F1 Celebration Party at Pavilion. Rushing off for events held during rainy peak traffic hours in the heart of KL is not a pleasant one, I tell you! The Chloe and Coach showcases were held back to back on Thursday and Friday night.
As a huge fan of Chloe, I have to say I was pretty disappointed with the showcase. Chloe as a fashion label has always been one to emulate warm feminine appeal, with youthful but modernly structured designs in muted tones.
While its showcase kept to Chloe's renowned soft elegance, I have to admit that the looks were a tad drab which I reckon can be attributed to the styling rather than the clothes itself.
There were so few looks and I'm only going to show the looks I like in this post. I love the colour scheme twist to this preppy summer look and the leopard print - tres chic!
This was my favourite look for the night. I'm loving the metallic pop in the otherwise muted outfit.
To prove my opinion on the overall drab showcase, above was the ending look.
Since I've seen Coach's collection for the season, I knew I was in for a brighter, bolder showcase the following night. What I did not predict was a flurry of over-the-top styling that was hardly wearable or appealing for street wear.
I love the look on the left. Who would've thought yellow leggings could essentially ground an outfit?
The looks for Coach this season were in stark contrast to Chloe's, highlighting the difference between an American and European take to spring and summer. Coach was all about colour pops!
I admired specific individual items, but honestly, it was quite a strain to take in each outfit. While I am all for unconventional fashion, it was hard to take the basic simplicity of Coach's modernly classic cuts seriously when they were thrown together like that.
It also didn't help that the start of the runway had its makeshift dressing room right behind it. Visible to all were models rushing to get ready before their runway cues.
Let's hope their last show this Wednesday night is better!
