The Docs Are Back!
What used to be the ultimate symbol of alternative and punk has gradually evolved into a style statement. The 80s have been officially revived, and Doc Martens are riding this wave.

Their website offers a variety and range of styles, from candy-coloured kicks to patent shine and calf-high alternatives.
Their inspiration in high fashion is hard to ignore...

The blogosphere and fashion network sites have been going crazy over these lace-ups as well, and with good reason, for they add that edge that is hard to come by.

Trend-focused blog Mimi's View has done a piece on them. Sally Jane, the ultimate champion of cute vintage fashion has also done a 'how to wear' post on them.
So far, my favorite piece of all time in the blogosphere remains Susie Stylebubble's, where she writes about a project in which 69 creatives were asked to put their own spin on the original boot.
Here are some of my favorites:

Sean John

Jasper Conran

Elspeth Gibson
The take home message? These Docs are what you make them out to be. Rock them with a flared skirt, a floral dress, plaid shirts or cardigans. Experiment and do them your way!
