Every Weekend, It’s “What To Wear?!”
I think many of us can attest to the fact that when Saturday night rolls around and being the women that we are, thoughts of “what to wear?” overrides all remnants of a bad work week. What to wear, what to wear, the three little words that translate to - hours of changing in and out of clothes, planning in advance, daydreaming suitable combinations, and the panic attack of running out to the shops because, well, nothing looks right!

Believe me when I say that once you start changing in and out of the contents of your closet and constant rummaging, you can’t stop. It’s like an itch you can’t avoid scratching, and one of the biggest no-nos if there ever was one.
Nobody wants to walk out their door looking like fashion overkill and that they’ve tried too hard. And nobody’s going to be impressed at the sight of someone who’s got a total of six fashion trends on their body that results an unflattering silhouette.
With that being said, aspiring to look like the latest tabloid celebrities would also be a big no when deciding what to wear. Britney Spears (sans undies or not), Paris Hilton, Victoria Beckham and Miley Cyrus are merely a few names you should not keep in mind no matter how many DUI arrests or robotic stances you’ve read or seen.

Here are a few pointers on conquering your wardrobe blues :
- When in doubt, black is the colour that would suit most body types and let “texture” be the key word in mind. Think pairing patent pumps with a silk blouse for a sophisticated look. Morticia Addams should not be the icon you’re seeking to imitate when dressing.
- Wasting precious time fussing over your outfit choice for the day/evening is exactly that - wasting time. Enjoy the process and have an even better time out instead, that said…
- Plan outfits ahead of time - time is of the essence here and organized shoes and jewellery does wonders for quick ensembles thrown together.
- When wearing a busy print or if you’re channeling an avant garde look, keep make-up to a minimum. Looking like you’re a part of Galliano’s couture show is not a good idea. Even models are familiar with the word restraint when taking their look from the runway to the realway.
- Stick to one trend at a time.
- Just because a particular item looks good on a celebrity doesn’t mean it would on you. Pick and choose certain items that you know would work for you - keep in mind body shape, stature and your skin tone. Not everybody is blessed with Nicole Kidman proportions.
Say goodbye to pointless agonising after this.
