TiC Surf: Taking The High Road
I don't know about you guys, but I for one am mighty glad that the low-riding jeans trend of the 90s has simmered down. After a decade of muffin tops and exposed G-strings, the high-waist which was once so popular in the 80s has been welcomed back with open arms. Yay to being able to sit down and not worrying about just how low our jeans are riding!

The high-waist was very prominent in Chloé's Fall 2009 ready to wear collection, giving each outfit a very polished, put-together look. We also particularly love the pastel, earthy palette used as well. Note the wide use of belts to define shape and add a splash of texture and colour. We give Chloé's new Creative Director, Hannah MacGibbon, a very firm and approving nod! :)

Amidst the red, black and gray of DKNY's runway show were also lots of high-waisted pencil skirts and even a gorgeous pair of black drop crotch pants I'm currently coveting. Looks like DKNY's bringing back plaid again in a big way too.

I've always loved Derek Lam's soothing earthy palettes with gorgeous gold accents. His clothes, known for their comfort and practicality, also took the high road with lots of tailored high-waisted pants and gorgeous flowy skirts. Note again how the belts help define shape and break up monotony in an outfit.

The Malaysian shopping scene has taken kindly to this trend as well because of its versatility and how it flatters almost every body shape. Take a look at some of the best local options we've scouted out just for you!
