MPOV: New Looks from MAC
Do you know what the new looks from MAC are? No we are not talking about the highly hyped about / sold out MAC Hello Kitty range, but rather the overall look looks that will be prominent this Spring/Summer 09. MAC has five looks that are hot this season and I was lucky enough to experience it first hand at the media review.

Our make up was done by none other MAC Senior Artist Yokoe Chan. This is the lady who travels to all the fashion capitals in the world and brings back knowledge and expertise to be shared with her fellow MAC Malaysia make up artists.

Day Two

Make Up Demo for the TV stations
It was a two-day event. The first was for the print media, and the second was for TV.

There were three models - fantastic Eryna; timeless beauty Yun Ru and me :) - hence only 3 out of the 5 looks were put on display.
"Artifice" - Eryna; "Black to Earth" -Yun Ru; and "Tender Tone" - me. The other two looks were "Hyda Luminous" and "Revolutionary Nature".

Work-wise it was rather easy. We just sat there and got our make up done as the cameras flashed.

By this point I'm sure you want to know just what the latest looks are so you can DIY.
"Artifice" is all about synthetic beauty. You'll find lots of strong lines and exaggerated eyebrows and eyeliner. Bright pop out colours a very graphic end look will make you think of comics.

I was told this look is inspired by a little girl playing with her mom's lipstick.

Strong eyebrows.

Probably not your day look. Just for the runways or a theme party.

A very graphic but more wearable look.
"Black to Earth" will most probably be the easiest to achieve. If you haven't guessed yet, it's all about smokey eyes. The 'morning after' smokey eye is in and I love it. Think Kate Moss. A trick to achieve this is to add gloss on your eyelids after applying eyeshadow.

The morning after look. Notice that gloss is added.

You just can't go wrong with this look. No need to be neat.
"Tender Tone" as its name suggests is a look put together by using subtle colours. It can either all be in the same hue or contrasting ones like green and purple. Think faded rainbows, dried flowers and candy floss. Purple is majorly in this season.

Focus mainly on the lips.

A louder look using subtle colours.

Doesn't this remind you of sunset?

Unexpected colours brought together.
"Hydra Luminous" is gloss and higlights everywhere. Gloss on eyes, lips and sometimes cheeks. Think a healthy dewy glow. The look is about perfectly hydrated skin, so say yes to concealer.

Gloss on eyes, nose bridge, cheekbones and lips.

Gloss on lips.

Gloss on cheekbones.
"Revolutionary Nature" is a look about radiant skin and a nude look (or rather, artificially perfect skin that looks natural). Brown shades on the eyes and nude lippy or gloss. Cheeks are kept light as well.

Earthy shades on the eyes, light cheeks and nude lipstick.

Perfect looking skin. An almost make-up less look.
In my opinion, most of these looks are quite easily achievable and can be tweaked for everyday use. My favourite is Black to Earth, what's yours?
