Chic Shop: Depression
Depression is a store in Singapore that does not quite form the image you would envision from the meaning of the word itself. Instead, it is a polar opposite. Tucked in a corner at Far East Plaza, this shop is known for it’s one-of-a-kind and quirky items that are hard to come by these days.
The name Depression came from a lot of pent-up creative energy and ideas from two ex-advertising creatives - Kenny, a former copywriter; and Andrew, a former Art Director. After leaving their jobs, they were "dissatisfied and depressed and had no avenue to give expression to their emotions and thoughts, thus the name Depression".
Just like their name, their designs reflect who they are and how they feel at a point in time. They have been described by many fashion insiders as anti-fashion, dark humour, minimilist quirk, geek chic, and their favourite - Tim-Burton-esque.
