After the success of the Stylo KL Fashion Festival which was held in March this year, Stylo International will be playing host to Stylo Fashion Grand Prix Singapore on 26th September 2008 at the Mercedes-Benz Center, Alexandra Road.
As a prelude to the forthcoming event; a preview for this fabulous fashion event, hosted by the Singapore Tourism Board, was held in the ballroom of Hilton KL early this month. An full-capacity crowd of 600 guests attended including top KL socialites, fashionistas and celebrities who were given a night of entertaining music and fashion from leading Malaysian and Singaporean designers.

This one-night fashion gala extravanganza will be one of the 13 glitzy highlights of the inaugural Singapore Grand Prix season. Represented by Mercedez-Benz, the sought-after marque is transforming its outlook from just being luxurious to being luxurious and fashionable!

If you have been to the 9-day STYLO KL Fashion Festival, you would know that it was one of the most top-notch and glamorous fashion events held this year, culminated with the presence of Her Majesty the Queen of Malaysia. With the theme set as “Fashion Entertainment”, guests were visually stimulated by some of the most avant-garde, audacious and quirky designs in the local industry.
As the preview party exemplified, guests should be expecting some dramatic and unorthodox fashion elements during the upcoming one-night fashion gala. The Fashion Grand Prix Singapore will be just like its Malaysian equivalent, feature Malaysia’s leading runway models, and fashion interpretations from Malaysian designers Michael Ong, Dato’ Tom Abang Saufi, Melinda Looi, Khoon Hooi and Edrc Ong.
Of course, not to be outdone by their Malaysian counterparts, Singapore’s fashion talents will include their own big names Francis Cheong, Frederick Lee and Yang Derong just to name a few. For those of you who want to catch a glimpse of South East Asian’s designs and interpretations, international luxury labels will be supplementing the local talants as well.
Before I forget to mention, David Gan, the Malaysian hairstylist to the stars in Singapore, will be adding his personal touch to the event alongside official make up partner Shu Uemura. Most importantly for all you socialites and fashionistas, there is one more addition to the already stellar night. There is to be an all night after party hosted in the Mercedes-Benz Centre! With individualized theme rooms, this will almost certainly be one party that those in attendance will not forget!
With runway success in KL, let’s see just how the upcoming Stylo Fashion Grand Prix Singapore will do in its effort to trump that of our very own Stylo KL Fashion Festival. From what I have mentioned, we may well have to start planning our event for next year in order to outdo our neighbour. By the way, I didn’t mention anything about kiasuness did I?
