Plastic Island

by on .

Plastic Island is a brand that is, well, never boring. It surprises with its unique design elements that you never thought would go with the overall garment feel, but end up blending seamlessly.

Their Spring Summer 08 collection pleasantly surprised me with its strongly urban vibe, sending out a plethora of cute and flirty dresses as well as slouchy tailored shorts and jumpsuits. I have my eye on the oversized nude windbreaker which is inexplicably yet perfectly paired with ankle length leggings.

Their work wear, however, fails to impress…

My favorite is their Fall Winter 08 collection. The monochromatic palette is broken up by warm grays, reds and navy; and dare I say the overall effect is stunning and wearable.

They please my eye with a wide variety of tailored blazers and menswear-inspired ensembles…

Effortless party wear also caught my eye because I find most party wear so contrived and overtly sexy these days:

I applaud them for injecting a little more creativity into their work wear which can easily transport one to after work drinks:

I was also excited to see that they continued the slouchy tailoring portif element from the previous collection and even made a shiny version of the nude jacket:

I also loved them doing girly…

Wouldn’t mind lounging in this either…

If you’re wondering, "Does this girl actually hate anything?" Your answer would be: Yes, I’m actually a pretty picky person and the reason why I’m always all full of effusive praise is because I usually post about things I’m pretty in love with. The same, however cannot be said for Plastic Island pre-Spring 09. It felt dated and paled in comparison to their previous collections.

Anyhow, if you do not lose faith (like me), Plastic Island is available in Indonesia and Japan as well as various other countries. Visit their website for more information or contact them at info@plasticisland.net.
