The 2008 Olympics is finally here! During this period, the whole world will be glued to their TVs to watch their favorite athletic star compete for GOLD! All eyes will be on China as they present to the world four years of hard work in preparation for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. We have heard so much about The Bird’s Nest’s National Stadium, The National Aquatic Center and the Award Winning director Zhang Yi Mou directing the Opening and Closing ceremony. I am excited and interested to see what China’s athletes will wear on the field.
Recently an article in Shanghai Daily unveiled the uniform that will be worn by the 639 mainland athletes. According to Shanghai Daily, the uniforms were inspired by ancient Chinese elements, such as Terra-cotta Warriors, Chinese Red, Peony and Phoenix and Auspicious Cloud. Besides design, fabric and colours are also critical factors. The uniforms armed with the colours of the Chinese National Flag will cause a sea of red and yellow to dominate the competitive realm. In particular, China’s female track and-field athletic wear should not be missed as according to many – the designs are so sexy and energetic that it reminds them of curvy Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie in the movie “Tomb Raider”..
