MIFA (Malaysian International Fashion Awards) launched their own fashion newsletter two nights ago in the Grand Ballroom at Gardens Midvalley, which is just a floor above GSC Signature cinema.
The launch called for a fashion show displaying 42 fashion designers, their works and their respective muses.
I’ve been backstage at fashion shows before. To photograph make-up artists as they pile on the paint unto models’ faces. To interview designers/organisers as they rush around to ensure the end product that struts out looks perfect. But this was the first time participation involved sashaying (as best an amateur could) down the runway as a muse.
Call time was at 5 pm and i wondered how everyone was to fit backstage with roughly 3 feet of wall space allocated for each designer, their models and muses.
By 6pm backstage was so crowded and hot, that when host/model/actress Elaine Daly swept up to say hi, a declaration that it was like a meat market came along with it.

Because there was an influx of too many models and not enough make-up artists, some of the muses submitted to applying their own stage makeup in order to skip out of the long queue.
