Celebrating the cinematic drama of New York, DKNY FALL 08 takes much inspiration from three iconic films in order to capture and visualize the spirit, energy and edginess of the city.
The three films in question are The Basketball Diaries, Taxi Driver and Ciao! Manhattan. In each of these three films is the underlying principle and concept behind DKNY’s newest collection, which is the unique story telling through layers.
Very street chic layering.

Wow. The layering is little too hardcore for me nevertheless. And don’t forget Malaysia still sits tightly on the equator. You need to be in New Zealand right now to pull of this look.
DKNY utilizing elements from ‘The Basketball Diaries’ sees a modern urban approach to the film’s school uniform. With oversized cardigans topping chambray shirt dresses, cowl necked suit vests combined with ruffled shirts and silk tunics cascading over wide legged trousers all aiming to conform to the layered attitude.
Perhaps a little too oversized? And the model is super skinny. Imagine how it would look on a normal-sized person.

Ummm…
Taxi Driver ques are apparent with such things as oversized parkas with buttoned patch pockets and mechanics work wear but with a shininess providing ergonomic chic with a hint of masculine toughness.

Definitely not the sort of look everyone would take to.

I still prefer the more glam yet still gritty approach, and DKNY utilises ‘Ciao! Manhatten’ to its fullest. Raw hemlines which are draped and asymmetrical, hanging off of shoulders provide something different to iconic biker jackets and trench coats. Skinny jeans and denim skirts mostly in black have an added sparke with metallic and silver colored tops accompanying them.

Neat and nice.

Very cute but keep the pants away on rainy days.

Absolutely gorgeous trench coat.
